The two women kept in constant contact throughout their lives and maintained a letter correspondence that lasted for over 60 years, in 2005 Pollak’s estate released her copies of Garbo’s letters to the public.
Greta to Mimi in 1925-having just moved to the United States: "If you only knew how homesick I am. I suppose I will just fade away here. I wrote to you that I was going to marry. I still can’t quite describe my feelings in letters, but I don’t think that I will ever marry. You have no idea how it hurts to be as confused and unhappy as I am. I don’t want to see anyone.
Greta to Mimi in 1928- when Mimi was about to be married: “I dream of seeing you and discovering whether you still care as much about your old bachelor. I love you, little Mimosa.”
Greta to Mimi in 1930- when Mimi was pregnant: “We cannot help our nature, as God has created it. But I have always thought you and I belonged together.”
